Alternative way to Complete Probationary Period

The flexible route is an alternative way to complete the probationary period.

The flexible route suits those who are not eligible to join the teacher induction scheme (e.g. those from the US) or those for whom the scheme is not suitable.

Those who undertake the flexible route have to find their own posts whilst they undertake their probationary period and it takes 270 days to gain full registration with the GTCS, but at the end of the day the outcome is the same – a teacher registered to teach in Scotland.

Further information is available on the GTCS website.
